Friendship Feast, Pumpkins & More!

We had a busy week in Kindergarten! We practiced working in our Reader's Notebooks, counting, writing the number seven, recognizing color words, and guided reading. We also worked on making decorations for our friendship feast and learning a song with the other classes. We had a wonderful time at our Friendship Feast on Thursday. Then we had a leftover feast on Friday during the school day with all of the classes together. The students also shared some books with their preschool reading buddies. Take a look below for more details on our exciting week!

Our class won the cafeteria trophy for having awesome behavior in the cafeteria so we proudly displayed it outside of our classroom this week!
We worked on the number seven by recognizing it, writing it, counting it, etc.
The students also worked hard in their Reader's Notebooks this week. We practiced the letter P, and recognizing pictures that begin with that letter.
We also practiced counting the seeds on a pumpkin and matching the correct number.
Since the students have learned to spell all of their color words now, we worked on reading the color words and color the picture appropriately to make the pumpkin.
In Literacy Lab we have started working on basic guided reading and answering questions about what we are reading.
Students earned their letter P books & pink books. They practiced reading them to their peers.
We also read a Thanksgiving book together.
We spent a lot of time getting ready for our Friendship Feast and making decorations.
We also practiced our friendship song with Mrs. Myers & Miss Riggs class every day as well!
Below you can see the students making their pine cone turkeys and the table runners to decorate the tables.
Every student from all 3 classes added their hand print to our welcome banner.

Below you can see pictures of the decorations  as well as pictures from the actual feast. Thank you to everyone who came and brought food for the feast. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the yummy food!
Like I said we practiced our friendship feast song with Mrs. Myers & Miss Riggs classes every day They did a great job!
For fun Friday in Literacy Lab students read and colored a
Thanksgiving book.
We made tank you notes for Miss Tina, Miss Juda & Mr. Dwaine who helped cook the turkey and set up/clean up for our feast!
On Friday students shared their Thanksgiving, Letter P & pink books with their preschool reading buddies.
On Friday we also had a feast during the school day with Mrs. Myers & Miss Riggs classes with all of our yummy left over food!
Thanks for stopping by to see what we have been up to. Check back next week to see what we are up to next! Hope to see you at our Christmas Program this Thursday at 6:30pm at the High School.

Have a great week,
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
