Career Day, Butterflies, Mother's Day & More!

We had another busy week here in Kindergarten! We added some new workstations including math counting puzzles, Pete the cat sight word bingo, and 100's chart counting game.
The students worked more on their plant journals. As you all found out, the plants were part of your Mother's Day gifts. I hope you enjoy them! We will be sending the plant journals home on Monday and your child can fill in the rest of the pages as it continues to grow.
For our Alphabet countdown, Monday was Wacky day!
Tuesday, for V day, we took an imaginary vacation. The students voted and they wanted to go to New York. We looked at pictures of the city, Statue of Liberty, and the New Year's Eve ball. They discussed what they wanted to do in the city and how beautiful it was!
Wednesday was USA day. I forgot to get a group picture before the car riders left so here is a picture of the bus riders dressed up!
Thursday, we wrote Thank You notes for our T day to ECC staff who have helped us throughout the year. I delivered their notes to the teachers after school and they all loved them! Take a look at a couple of them below!
Friday we celebrated our friends who have summer birthdays! Thank you to everyone who donated food for our celebration, we enjoyed everything!
We have been documenting what we are doing for our alphabet countdown in our Alphabet Memory book. The students will take these home at the end of the year. We have been practicing writing our letters correctly and sounding out the words (so wake is wacky).
Our caterpillars finally emerged as beautiful butterflies and we were able to release them!
We also attended a Healthy Fair about various topics such as personal hygiene (hand washing, bathing and teeth brushing),
 water and fire safety.,
 traffic signs and stranger danger,
and we also learned about amputees and how to react to seeing someone wearing a prosthetic.
We also enjoyed playing outside when the weather allowed!
The students worked very hard on their Mother's Day gifts for you. Not only have they been working hard growing flowers for you and watering them, but they also made beautiful cards and bags to put everything in!
We also included some fun things into your bags!
Then they had to stuff the bags with everything and take them home on Friday!
On Thursday we had our Careers on Wheels day at the ECC. Other than it being very cold, we had so much fun!! The students got to speak with a police officer, news reporter, trash collectors, food truck server, bus driver, limo driver, paramedic, and coca cola delivery driver. Take a look at our fun day below!
We also read a book about community helpers and shared it with our preschool reading buddies on Friday.
Our published book came in this week! Check out the video to see how excited the students were! I will be delivering these books to those who ordered them at our Poetry Cafe.
Thanks for checking in! Have a great week!

Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
